| How To Manage Oily Skin |
Hello! I'm constantly on the Internet trying to find out how others control oily skin, so, I decided to write a post on how I manage my oily skin.. I personally have what is known as combination skin which means I have an oily T-zone, while my cheeks are dry. So, I'm torn between mattifying my skin and moisturizing it.
I have a system which seems to work for me. One thing have noticed is that it's almost impossible to recommend a skin routine or products that will work for another person. But at least, this post can act as a guide.
I've learned not to wash my face with ordinary antibacterial soaps or harsh cleansers, because this makes my skin produce more oil to combat the drying effect of the soap.
I cleanse twice a day using the Clean and Clear blackhead clearing daily scrub. It's oil free and reduces blackheads, although it can be quite stinging (if you know what I mean). It lifts away dirt and oil and removes any trace of makeup that's left on my face. I leave this on for about 15-20 minutes, and then wash it off with lukewarm or cold water. I avoid washing my face with hot water. After washing the scrub off, my face is left looking smooth and supple.

I then use a toner. The toner I use is the Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner. Toner helps me feel fresh and shrinks the appearance of pores, making my skin look better and younger. Since I have a combination skin, I use the toner only on my T-zone. I simply drench this in a cotton ball and wipe it on my face. Many people feel toners isn't necessary, but when I don't tone I get pimples and besides toner removes dead skin, so it's a yes for me. When buying a toner, make sure it's alcohol free, as this won't strip off your skin's natural moisturizers.

For days when I'm going to apply makeup, I like to moisturize my skin to prep and prime it. As I noted earlier, I have a combination skin, and so this step is compulsory or else my makeup would look "cakey". To moisturize, I use a body lotion by StMichael from Marks and Spencers. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it anywhere online.

On days when I'm going commando, that is makeup free, I apply Mary Kay Oil Mattifier. I only need two pea size amount for full coverage. Sometimes, I apply after moisturizing my face to control shine.

Following this steps gives my face a smooth base to start applying makeup on. Ever since I began this routine, my skin feels and looks better and my makeup lasts longer since I have control over my pores. Of course, this does not totally stop shine, but at least I don't look like I dipped my face into petroleum jelly :)
So, how do you guys manage your skin tone? I'll love to know x

I have oily skin and it can be such a nightmare! But the right products really do make a difference. x
