I have known about M.A.C for a long time now, but I never saw the need to spend a certain amount of money for just a single product as a student especially when there were other amazing drugstore products for a quarter of the price. I would rather spend my money on products from Kiko, Maybelline, M.U.A and so on.
Then, I joined the beauty blogosphere in March 2015 and started watching vlogs and reading blogs and thus discovered so many other amazing beauty products like Raine, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Nars, Kat Von D, and so on. I decided to save to invest in high end products starting with M.A.C.
But then, purchasing these items in Nigeria is quite exorbitant as those that sell it add their own prices to the original price. So, the rational part of my brain stops me from buying high end products yet, especially in Nigeria.
Just recently I discovered I might be going to the U.S. in August/September (*fingers crossed*) and this cemented my resolve not to buy anything yet. Why? I discovered that M.A.C products are cheaper in the U.S. than it is in the UK which thus makes it way cheaper than it is here in Nigeria.
For instance, in the US, a Mac lipstick is $16 which in Naira is 3,360. In the UK, a Mac lipstick is £15.50 which in Naira is 4,650. Then since I'm obviously going to have to fly to the U.S., I have the opportunity of shopping duty free at the airport which might again be even cheaper due to the 20% vat free (*ka ching*).
So, anyone of you reading this do you own a Mac cosmetics product yet and what would you suggest I get? x
