Before I highlight the steps, i would like to note that if you want to really want to lose weight, don't bother with any excuses. Many give the excuse that they're busy with work and school, but trust me it's harder when you're less busy. One tends to overeat when they are bored or watching TV. Even if you have to wake up as early as 4a.m to workout, that shouldn't be too difficult if you really want to lose weight.
During the strike, when I just started working I found it difficult to exercise because i usually leave home by 8a.m and i don't get home until past 8p.m. Then, before i started working, I workout when it's 7pm for 1 hour, but then when I get home from work I sleep off. So, 1 had to set my alarm to 5a.m so that i could have enough time to workout for one hour in the morning before i start house chores then leave home for work. Though, i was fortunate because i had all the equipments i needed at home, so if you can afford it, I'll advice you to get a treadmill and dumbbells. Also, I prepare all my meals ahead for the day so I wouldn't be tempted to stray from my diet.
The 10 key steps that aided my weightloss
MOTIVATION ; You need to be mentally prepared to change your lifestyle or there's no point starting. Why do you want to lose the weight and who are you losing the weight for? Without the commitment, the drive and the passion, it will be difficult to be successful. If you've recognized that you need a change then you need to be pro-active and make a change. Write a list of things you're not happy with as this will help clear your mind and give you focus to start the diet. Set a goal for yourself, write it down on a piece of paper and stick it somewhere visible, every time you look at it, it'll give you motivation and remind you why you're doing it - for yourself.
PLANNING ; Out of sight, out of mind, this applies with diet mentality. If you don't have any junk food at home, you won't be tempted to eat it. My fridge is filled with healthy snacks, so that when I'm hungry at night, I'll munch on cucumber instead of chips. By being 100% prepared it means that you don't give yourself a chance to slip into bad habits. For example, if you know that your days are busy prepare your meals the night before, so that you're not tempted to buy from fast food restaurants.
EXERCISE ; Whether you like it or not, exercise is integral to weight loss. Exercising will help you lose weight, tone your body and it makes you feel good. Running makes me feel good especially when I've had a bad day. Any time is good for exercise, whether morning, noon or night. Try and fit "incidental exercise" into your day. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park your car far away from your destination or leave your car at home.
