These past one year, my diet has been up and down. In July 2013, I made a conscious effort to change my lifestyle and I was very successful. I went from a size 26 down to a size 14/16 in six months. From then onwards, things started going downhill. During that six months, I did not consult anyone and simply changed my diet and exercised almost everyday. You can read all about my transformation story here.
It's a known fact that when you first start to diet, you loose the weight easily, but then afterwards you hit a plateau point and it takes extra efforts to lose the remaining weight. That was what happened to me, but I didn't know that then and so when I step on the scale and saw no change I get depressed. After a few weeks and still no change, I slowly became lax with my diet. Then when I noticed I've gained a bit of weight, I'll start dieting again. This sad cycle lasted for over a year and stopped just recently. Today I'm a solid size 16 and I've decided to change my approach and start all over again.
These past few weeks, I sat myself down and tried to decipher the problems. The scale is one of the things that demoralizes me and so for now, I chucked it behind my closet. I noticed that I let the scale determine my happiness, instead of how I actually feel.
The other thing I did was to embrace a healthy lifestyle. This means that instead of viewing exercise and diet as a means of loosing weight, I should see it as a way to fuel my body with nutritious meal and to keep my body in top shape.
After identifying these two major obstacles, I felt like a heavy boulder had been lifted off my chest and this motivated me to check out Pintrest for motivational quotes. As you can see in the picture above, I decided to write out my favorite quotes and then pinned it above my desk. Every morning, the first thing I do is go through these quotes and this actually motivates me to go workout. Also, during the day when I'm having cravings I simply look at these quotes and this keeps me focused.

thanks for the encouraging words #girlpower
DeleteWow you've done really well to go from a 26 to a 16! Remember that! And I never use scales, muscle weighs more than fat so if you're exercising you'll probably be putting on weight even if you're getting smaller! Go by how your clothes fit and how you feel in yourself :) Well done!
